Tips to Lower Warehouse Energy Costs
Are you looking to manage and lower warehouse energy costs? Here are a few tips to achieve this. At DEC, we would be happy to help you with any of these updates to ensure you are getting the most out of your lighting.
INSTALL LED OR INDUCTION LIGHTING
LED Lighting consume up to 80 percent less energy and you can recover their cost in two to three years. When looking to reduce costs in commercial warehouses, consider replacing traditional metal halide light fixtures with LED lights.
You may also want to consider induction lighting. They have a bit higher up-front cost, but they offer up to 40 percent greater efficiency over fluorescent.
DEPLOY CONTROLLABLE THERMOSTATS
Programmable thermostats have become very popular in residential and commercial properties, but it seems that warehouses are less likely to have these installed. Controllable thermostats can help to regulate and measure the temperature in warehouses with shorter heating and cooling cycles.
INSTALL LIGHTING SENSORS
Warehouses with low-traffic areas can take advantage of motion sensors to reduce energy usage. By installing these sensors, the lights would remain off when the areas are inactive.
